1. Local-first design
GoAlert keeps your contacts and settings on your device — no accounts, no ads, no analytics SDKs inside the app. SOS alerts and location requests are relayed to your chosen guardians through Google Firebase (push delivery and real-time sync), which needs Internet on both sides.
App vs website analytics (clarifying earlier wording): the GoAlert app uses no analytics trackers of any kind. This website uses Microsoft Clarity analytics cookies only after you accept them in the cookie banner — see the Cookie Policy for the exact cookie table. The two statements describe two different products and do not conflict.
2. Information the app collects
- Precise GPS location — only while you actively enable tracking; used to display your position and include coordinates in emergency Internet push alerts relayed via Firebase to your guardians.
- Background location — only after you explicitly enable background tracking; maintains the foreground service during travel and is shared with guardians only via Firebase relay when an alert or request is dispatched.
- Emergency contacts — phone numbers you enter or pick from your phonebook, stored locally only; used solely to address SOS notifications.
- Push token (FCM) — a Firebase Cloud Messaging token registered automatically to route push-based SOS alerts and remote location requests; never sold or shared with third parties.
3. Information we do NOT collect (app)
- No name, email, or account credentials (no account exists).
- No uploaded location history, travel routes, or movement profiles.
- No SMS message contents; the app sends no SMS.
- No advertising SDKs, analytics trackers, or data-broker SDKs in the app.
- No financial, biometric, or health data.
4. Permissions and why each exists
| Permission | Why | Status |

Third parties (app)
- OpenStreetMap: map tiles; OSM may log standard web-server access logs. No personal data shared by us.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging + Firestore (Google): push SOS alerts and real-time sync of requests/logs you enable. See Google's Privacy Policy.
- On-device geocoding: address lookups may use device APIs subject to Google's policy.
No advertising networks, analytics SDKs, or social SDKs are integrated in the app. All Firebase traffic is TLS/HTTPS encrypted; app data lives in Android's protected sandbox.
Locally stored data is permanently deleted on uninstall or app-data clear. For Firebase-relayed records, contact us and we remove them.
6. Your rights (DPDPA 2023 & GDPR)

- Correction: edit contacts and settings in-app anytime.
- Deletion/erasure: clear app data or uninstall; ask us to remove Firebase-relayed records.
- Withdraw consent: revoke any permission in Android Settings; withdraw cookie consent per the Cookie Policy.
- Grievance redressal: write to the Grievance Officer above; escalation to India's Data Protection Board remains available.
- Nominate (DPDPA): you may nominate another individual to exercise your data rights on your behalf in the event of your death or incapacity — tell us your nominee in writing at [email protected].
- EU users (GDPR): lawful basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)), withdrawn by revoking permissions. Article 27: we have not appointed an EU representative as our processing is occasional, low-risk, and consent-based with no large-scale monitoring; EU users may exercise all rights directly via [email protected].
